Today, i'm gonna touch on something privately open for everyone
Wait, Hold on... judging by the title if there is any boys in here, you're not exactly in the wrong page.
i'd love to welcome you to stay "you too need to know.. you know"
girls, hold yourself together because we're gonna dig into something we need to educate ourselves with
Okay, let's get started. first of all, i wanna ask all you girls out there. does anyone of you ever or are suffer from Napkin Dermatitis cause by sanitary pads when we get our 'red tide' every time of the month
"excuse me, but what is Napkin Dermatitis?"
"Nap.. what?"
"what is Napkin Dermatitis?"
The number of outermost skin layer varies across different parts of the body. The average thickness for eyelid and cheek is 8 layers and 10 layers respectively whereas average thickness for heels is 86 layers! The intimate area is the thinnest with average thickness of 6 layers, even thinner than eyelid! Hence extra care needs to be taken when protecting the area against inflammation
According to research, 7 out of 10 women have experienced skin discomforts around their intimate area during period days. i was undoubtedly 1 of those many, not that i felt proud of it but come on women.. it's not something embarrassing to admit/discuss about. anyone can suffer from napkin dermatitis, not just those with sensitive skin. it may due to various factor such as :
High humidity environment
When a sanitary pad comes into contact with your intimate area, the humidity derived from perspiration and menstrual blood is confined. As a result, this brings about the damp environment within a napkin with temperature of 35-36˚C and relative humidity to be 85% or higher (this climate corresponds to tropical rainforest climate), making the skin very sensitive and get swollen more easily.
Physical stimulation due to contact of napkin surface with the skin
As the skin became very sensitive, its resistance and barrier against external stimulation such as rubbing of skin against napkin surface reduced significantly
So, how do we reduce the chance of having Napkin Dermatitis? here are the few tips that i'd like to share
✓ Carefully select sanitary brands that cater your needs : Absorption, Thickness, Length, Design (wing, non-wing, scent etc)Laurier Ultra Gentle is the first sanitary napkin in Singapore that is dermatologically tested & especially designed to reduce the common causes behind skin irritations
1) Quick Lock System’s suction-like power absorbs & locks in fluid quickly, reducing wetness on the napkin surface
2) Feels drier and stay sticky-free, Unique airy soft wavy top sheet reduces skin contact, hence minimizing skin irritations and discomfort caused by friction
3) Airflow is channeled and promoted by the wavy surface, thus relieving stuffiness, moisture and itchiness
4) Developed with Japan Advanced Skin Science technology and made out of Japan premium quality
✓ Do keep our 'lil sister' clean at all time, not necessarily carrying a famine wash or wipes everywhere you go. a gentle wash with clean water is more than enough to keep 'sister' smiles, they are design by mother nature to be self-clean and you can always find out more Here
✓ Get change regularly, i know it's sounds very cliché. but it's kind of like the thing that we women feel guilty about but still keeps doing it
"Never mind, i'll get shower soon so let's just hold it till i get into the bathroom"
"Public toilet doesn't feel much comfortable, i'll change them at home and holding it a little longer. it can still hold the juice up #padsareexpensiveyouknow"
Speaking on my own personal experience, i genuinely believe investing in a good pair of pads which offer the ultimate comfort & fulfill our basic needs is very important. I've tried and put Laurier Ultra Gentle line to the test and was pretty impressed on how light and gentle it is on the most delicate skin
those soft fluffy waves felt almost like a cushion bed, but not overly thick which allows air circulation to prevent stuffiness. also besides the comfort i absolutely love how strongly adhesive it was, especially for somebody who move a lot like me. this literally lock and seal everything in place, do we all just hate having the pad crumb up to the center or sometimes it's like moving all over to the sides which often cause early leakage despite of the pad isn't fully load yet? YES!
Laurier Ultra Gentle comes in various length to suit your personal preference/need
widely available at leading supermarkets and personal care stores
