Hi Peeps,
How ya'll doin'? hope everyone is doin' great, anyway.. despite the fact that i might be a little to late but i sincerely wanna wish everybody who celebrate CNY a
Today, i'm gonna share a tiny bit of my journey back to my hometown (Kuala Enok). i've been away from home since i was 15, spending the first 3 years of vocational high school in Jambi City.. 4 years in INTI University Malaysia and live in Singapore at the moment.
meeting and making tons of friends from various city and country, and people often ask where i came from? where's your home town?
To be honest, i find it hard to explain. so i just told most of the people that i came from Jambi, not that i'm embarrassed about my own hometown.
but really guys, anyone ever heard about it? i doubt so.. at least Jambi is still 'googleable' but Kuala Enok, doh... hahahha
ever wonder how it looks like? here you go
The bridge above is the core to link those live in the west to the east, as i've said. this is just a small town where you wouldn't find any car, the only transport available is either by motor bike (on land), Sampan bottomed Chinese wooden boat (on sea)
or Pong2 (on sea), which basically the same as Sampan. except, it operated by small motor engine and bigger in term of size.
to travel out of the town, there are wooden boat operating daily which provide service to various island and city.
Majority of the people make a living out of Bird nesting & seafood ship, some work with the palm oil factories. this town used to be quite lively, but due to slow growing and 'premanisme' which been madly threatening. many people find it hard to bare with especially the Chinese, every single year.. families are migrating to a bigger city. and now, it's like a dead town.
nonetheless, it feels great to be home still every once in a year. to be able to spend quality time with the mother and reminiscing some of the stuff of my late father, i absolutely wouldn't mind the hours of ass flattening hassle ride.
back in touch with some old friends, and oh.. not forget to mention the cookie making and also the awesome CNY eve dinner by the best cook ever
Shark fin soup, Hot pot steam boat, some 'must have' dish such as fish maw, sea cucumber, spring rolls, ngo hiang, and i better stop *gosh i'm drolling!!! T.T
momma bake some cuppies, and i'm up with the ugly frosting (don't judge me okay). imma pipping virgin, LOL
It's always been a pleasant journey to be home, sometimes living in a big city really does change your attitude and personality without us even realizing.
to me, each time i visit my own country/hometown. seeing and watching people living a simple life and making the most out of what the already have.. it's no doubt something to be bare in mind and stay grounded.
it's really hard to find people who willing to help or even offer you a hand sincerely, but in small town.. people live by doing so #foreverasmalltowngirl
Alright mehn, i'm done with my bedtime story. i'm working on Valentine nail do which will be up on this coming Friday, so make sure to check back lovelies
Till Then,
Have a Great Day
Much Love ♥
