Kristin & I Bachelorette party cum mini gateway to Johor Bahru especially arraged for us by the girls! arrived in Johor around 1pm and grab some lunch at Soul Thai Restaurant, too bad that we were to hungry to snap some photos hahaha.. if you are fans of Thai food, definitely check them out at
Soul Thai JB City Square
J2_16A, Level 2, JB City Square (walk in from Sticky Candy Shop)
Tel: 07-207 0200
PS : Tom Yam Soup (Must Order!)
Hungry souls (✓) fed, and got our asses moved for check in, the girls had arranged for our stay at KSL D'Esplanade , highly recommend this service apartment if you're looking for a short gateway for family and friends. beside it link to KSL Mall, the service apartment was indeed very spacious with 2 bed rooms, 2 toilets, dining & living room, kitchen and balcony overlooking tiny part of the city
Bag down, chilled & shopping. we headed over to AEON Tebrau City Store & Shopping Centre, i personally find AEON offers more stuff to buy compare to the rest of the Malls around JB Centra area.
by the way, if you're thinking of using Uber or GRAB (taxi services) in JB. please ensure you have a very strong and stable data to begin with, both of this service wasn't quite impressive in my opinion based on our experience. there were once we've booked our ride and then driver was on his way, unexpectedly lost of traceability. made a call to check on our booking and was told he wasn't able to 'locate' us wtf. Twas Uber
Second unpleasant experience came from none other than GRAB which we end up having to deal with some random 'itchy' driver who was kinda chatty in the beginning, but end up trying to lead us into bedroom conversation wtf.. It's certainly convenient to use certain cab service, but not every country keep the same service standard. so if you plan to visit Johor, mark this down :
- Try to get a local Taxi instead (since those Uber and GRAB isn't fully serve the purpose *YET) usually it's in Red color with some Yellow details
- Important : Negotiate price before hop into the cab, NEVER GO BY METER EVER! i've been fooled twice running by meter and always end up paying 2x the regular fare, a quick price guide line on negotiating based on my personal route experience :
JB Central - AEON Tebrau, approximatly around RM 20 - 25
AEON Tebrau - Taman Sentosa (food center), approximatly around RM 10 - 15
Taman Sentosa (food center) - JB Central, approximatly around RM 10 - 15
- Travel in a group would be much safer, needless to say.. definitely cheaper too because you can always share the cost among your friends. a group of 4 will be just nice (include some Male friend would be a Plus)
And finally DINNER!!! couldn't contain myself to try on Bali most famous wicked ribs since i didn't get the chance to try those goodness when i was in Bali few months back. but thank god, Naughty Nuri is now open in Johor & Singapore!

Fried Rice
Pork Belly in a bed of Grilled Pineapple
Nuri's Wicked Pork Ribs
Salted Egg Yolk Baby Squid
Fried rice was good, it brings a very homey taste, Salted egg yolk baby squid totally need to improve, pork belly are great & grilled pineapple too.. sweet, juicy and very refreshing. Honestly, i'm unable to tell the differences between the taste of the ribs that we had in Johor vs the one made in our homeland, but i gotta say this wicked little bad boy was DOPE! charred into perfection + most importantly it doesn't have a very strong kicking porky smells which i love, beautifully season & succulent meat texture "oh boy... You had me at Hello"
Happy Belated Birthday kesayangannnn, Thanks to Nuri's staff for putting much effort to have gathered and sang to her despite of the busy business hour on serving other customers
Banana in Meat
This is basically Deep fried Banana, wrapped in a layer of bacon and spring roll skin. Bacon on dessert? really? YES! As odd as it sound, but this dessert has a unique combination of crispiness, saltiness & sweetness. flavorful party in a bit, i'm usually a NO NO when it comes to anything to do Mr. Bacon.. but i took a full courage to try this and i kinda like it tho. the saltines that it bring just added a unique touch like never before.
We then returned to the hotel after having our sumptuous dinner, wash up and continue with our remaining agenda which i wouldn't talk about because it involve rather 'explicit content' LOL rest assured, no gigolo/strippers was harmed during the craziness of this staycation
Pirate Game & BeanBoozled
I win quite a lot that night, hahaha.. thank to the 'bride charm' lol meanwhile the beanboozled, my lord.... stinky socks really taste and smells horribly like a real one, just don't try it! horrible little thing! and the after taste lasted like forever FML. just so we called it a night after a victorious winning (me), bet drinking and all the exhaustion
The next morning...
Soon Soon Heng Bak Kut Teh
43, Jalan Serigala, Taman Abad, 80250 Johor Bahru,
Johor, Malaysia
Braised Tofu in Dark Soy Sauce
Youtiao (chinese cruller/deep fried dough)
Kiam Chai/Xiancai with fried Lard
Bak Kut Teh (meat bone tea)
First time in my life having Bak Kut Teh for breakfast, such heavy yet satisfying meal to begin with. if you like bak kut teh with more herbally taste, you can definitely give this place a go. but if you prefer pepperish soup like Song Fa, this is skippable.
