(warning graphic : to all the muslim friends, you may want to check this post later. picture contains might cause several instant craving and sudden temptation)
Alright, yesterday me mommy, sissy and i went for a day tour. been seeing this ad for a countless time via Groupon, Deal.com and some other deal packages from neighbour websites. considering the itinerary is sooooo my mother kinda of 'ideal' trip and besides, going and revisiting the same old places in Singapore can be quite boring. so we decided to give it a go
Seated comfortably in the 40 seater bus (which fortunately, was not full), leaving around 7 am in the morning and proceeded to both Singapore and Malaysia immigration clearance.
Travelled via Apple World which was overall, very pleasant and satisfying.
the entire trip cost (±) SGD $60+ (not sure, coz it was purchased by the sissy), that covers :
Breakfast
Durian Buffet
Lunch (5 course dishes)
Dinner (Chinese banquet style)
Breakfast was served at 1 of the local bakery shop SDS Classic,
Fried Noodles
Mix veggies curry
Fried fish with spring onion gravy
Petite Spring Rolls
(unpictured) rice vermicelli, assorted cakes, tartlets and sandwiches.
as for the drinks, we had Teh tarik (milk tea) and mango juice.
the tour also customized their food for vegan traveller who had their own corner for meat-free food.
done with the breakie, we continued our ride approximately 45 min journey to 1 of the local gift shop. nothing much to buy obviously, just a typical gift shop selling locally manufactured products.
Next... Durian farm!!!
Not my first time seeing durian trees, i was trying hard to find some trees with the durian fruit hangin' on but unfortunately.. it was fully harvest, left only the tiny mini babies up there. LOL
just to share some random story about Durian. according to our tour guide of the day, she says that nowadays there are lots of China 'rich' people coming to Malaysia with their own private plane just to buy and fetch durians back to their own country.
?????
What's with the net? no, they ain't fishing from the trees
this is 1 of the method the farm owner use, to ensure every ripped durian fell and held with care without hitting the ground for some 'hygienity' and flesh texture quality assurance.
specifically for top graded Durian like Mao Shan Wang
Now, are we ready for durian party??? YES!!
Durian here.. Durian There... Durian everywhere
so basically we were give 1 hour to eat as much as we could, all those baskets full of durians with no limit.
there are guys standby equipped with knife, all ready to rip out durian for you. you can choose your own or request the guy to choose based on your preference, yellow flesh, bitter flesh etc.
I can safely say, all this durians are 'average' grade category, because all the top graded has been shorted out to be sold individually with different tags based on it's own type.
far as i could remember, i ate 3 small size on my own. my First was not fully riped, half raw.
Second, was some random pick by the uncle
Third, requested for yellow flesh
That's it, i surrendered FML. my last piece was decent, but couldn't go any further. thought i could ate like 5 or so, but truth is.. it can be quite sickening tho i personally fancy durian. hahahahhaha
as i said earlier, the durian offered in the buffet was average graded. and the seller did sell the top graded durian in separate counter, mama pack 4 kgs of Mao Shan Wang home, cost RM 35/kg
Mao shan Wang
Now, see the difference? thin skin, small seed.. thick juicy creamy flesh. a true taste of the king of fruit.
durian was not the only fruit offered, there are also some light bites of petite curry puffs and freshly cut watermelons covered in our tour. as for the durian farm itself, also sells some other fruits like red dragon fruits, mangostain, etc.
headed for lunch after stuffing ourselves silly with all sort of durians, left no room for lunch anymore. (what?? really??? NOPE) of course there's always room for food, hahahahhaha
actually couldn't blame the itinerary and the time gaps, not to forget this is just a day tour so we really gotta catch up quickly.
Minced meat stuffed tofu
Hokkien mee
Hor Fun
Rojak with friend chicken
Mix veggies
My favourite dish of all, gotta be none other than the hor fun. it's simple yet delish! you know those classic old school stir fry will always had an extra fragrance of burning wok. oh my.. couldn't even put it in words, that awesome feeling of slurping springy silky smooth hor fun. yummiest.
right after lunch, we just dropped by another gift shop. mama, sissy & i escape to another pastry and baking shop nearby to pick up some baking mould, decorative sprinkles and couple bottles of food colouring.
returned to the bus, and next.. heading to local organic farm.
I've never seen 'black' color chilli in my entire life, hahahaha.. according to the farmer, the seed was directly imported from Bangladesh. it was my first time, and i'm extremely tempted to pick and have a taste of it. as ya'll know, i love chilli sooo sooooo much, but the farmer aren't allowed any of the tourist to touch any of their plant.
our last stop was brand new Jusco Bukit Indah shopping center, humongous!!! we were only given 1 hour to shop, so mama, sissy and i literally gotta split to grab what ever we need to and find each other once we're done. running like a headless chicken LOL.
shopping ended around 7 in the evening, and hopped in back to our bus for dinner.
Appetizer platter
Shark fin soup
Bean curd skin, stir fry eggplant & long beans , Herbs steam duck
and a plate of watermelon :)
out of all the food we had in that day, dinner dishes was epic. i have no complain at all, simple and flavourful.
