Bangkok {Day 1}

ǩwyteī̌yw reụ̄x h̄mū, Chā yĕn, Lūk h̄mū, K̄ĥāwh̄enīyw mam̀wng, i can carry on and on and on... nooo, i'm not chanting mantra!!! you little rascal! well, i'm just temporary suffering from good food trauma.

I can sense someone is waiting for my blog update, huh? No, you don't? Yes, you do?
okay, imma share my 'nothing much' day 1 in the land of smiles anyway. don't expect to see some shopping spree from my entire journey, coz really.. shopping was not my priority, but food feasting YES!!!
this entire trip was purely for leisure purpose, taking a break from the typical hectic boring routine and enjoying some self-appreciation moment + spending some quality time with Le Besties for our mini reunion getaway.

flew to Bangkok via Scoot, for some reason it has always been my prefered traveling partner. reasonable price for budget air with comfortable seat, and this Boeing - 777 it's quite roomy i can say.

Landed at Suvarnabhumi airport around 7 PM local time, and waiting for the Beau to arrive in different flight. so i decided to get a local simcard, there are various telecommunication service counter and tour agencies along the arrival hall exit. got myself settle for AIS with a local number that cost THB299, it comes with 1 GB mobile data and about ฿100 prepaid credit or something (*not sure, i just need the data anyway LOL)

2 hours later, Beau and i took a cab to our hotel at Golden Tulip Mandison with a cab fare of THB350 (highway paid by driver) always remember to ask before hopping into a cab in bangkok, because those sneaky driver like to ask passenger to bare the highway charges which suppose to be included up to assigned destination.
1 more important note, always go for meter instead of offered/after bargain price.  in most cases, meter rate and 'agreed' price will cost you ฿100 - 200 difference. it's indeed tricky, just be careful.

Next morning, we took a cab to Chatuchak weekend market from our hotel that cost around ฿80

Chatuchak Weekend Market
Open every Saturday - Sunday
09.00 am - 18.00 pm

Reached there around 9 local time, which was way tooooo early and not much shop has opened yet. so we just took our own sweet time to roamed around, and hunt for some local food for breakfast along the alleys. spotted some mouth watering stalls selling pork rice, noodles and random snacks by the local chinese.
and we gave it a go.

(Reader warning) : to my Muslim friends out there, you may find some pictures content 'disturbing'. but do bare in mind that the purpose of posting are mainly for sharing, no religious or virtual offensive act intended.

Nam Tok Stall

Generous stretch of condiments, fresh bean sprouts, basil leaves, whole baby garlics and chillies.

I'm puzzled over the sugar, does anyone know why most thai food eatery/ restaurant always have sugar as part of the comdiments? my guess is to bring the sweetness of soup based menu in replacement of MSG? i guess? not for the drinks, right?
mind to share some random fact on the comment box below if you know the answer

ก๋วยเตี๋ยวเรือหมู (/ǩwyteī̌yw reụ̄x h̄mū/) ฿40
Pork Boat Noodle

If you know me well enough, i don't consume any poultry products aside from lean meat (full stop). never know why, just don't get use to it and no intention to try either. please excuse me, but i personally feel disgusted to consume any kind of animals organs aside from it meats alone.

But yesterday, when i did some reading about this boat noodle.. mehnnn, i just found out that the thick dark broth was partly made out of sprinkles fresh pig blood upon serving which was instantly cooked by the hot boiling soup. What The Fact!!!!!

Now, how i felt after knowing the shocking truth?
'Oh heck, I Don't Care.. I Love It (sing icona pop)' it was SO GOD DAMN GOOD!!!
no strange taste nor stench smells. i have a very strong scent, and will not consume anything smells uncomfortable for me, but this bowl of  hot piping soup ohmaigaaaaatttt..

sooooo good that i'm out of words to describe how tasteful it was, i literally got carried away by the bursting flavours *gulp (growling stomach).
it comes with slices of pork meat and a piece of pork patty which usually in the form of balls, patty was tenderly juicy. beau and i agreed it was indeed real good #nobullshit

ข้าวขาหมู (/K̄ĥāw k̄hā h̄mū/) ฿50
Pork Leg on Rice

Gf picked, i just text her yesterday to ask the price of her food (you know blogger, we try to share the accurate information as we could) and her reply was :  '฿50.. ฿45 maybe, temporarily amnesia because it was too cheap to remember' LOL

After the satisfying happy meal, we continued exploring shop to shop and trying some local food and sweets. This was my 2nd trip to Thailand, and 1st to the capital city.
It so much different from Krabi, where majority of the residents are Muslims. expect not to find any 'non halal' food, but in Bangkok pork are everywhereeeee... from roadside snacks, alley/market/shop houses eatery to every restaurants.
To the pork fans out there, Thailand is no doubt your heaven on earth.

หมูกรอบ (/H̄mū krxb/)
Crispy Pork

Price are subject to choice of meat, beau got his classic crispy roasted pork for ฿140 (for like 100 grams i guess). we never ask nor check on the seller while he was weighing LOL, but what i knew is that it took beau hours to finished it with Levi kindnest 'help' wkwkwkwkw

หมูสะเต๊ะ (/H̄mū krxb/)฿10
Pork Satay

and some random freshness

If only our stomach are unlimitedly expandable, i could have eaten everything and brutally stuffed myself silly!
every food, snacks and beverages is so appealing to me, they'll be like *seductively whisper 'Hey there, try me I'm Famous' hahahahaha

Well, before i left the hotel. i secretly swear to myself, i would not leave Chatuchak before getting my hands on Coconut Ice cream. but too bad, that 1 particular stall that i'm dying to try which serving coconut ice cream with sticky rice is not selling yet.
so to ease my broken heart, i got myself a coconut ice cream still LOL. not too broken after all XD

Couldn't recalled how much exactly this was, about ฿30 i think. pardon my short term memory. i gone banana over the sumptuous spread of topping, and i was like 'just gave me the ice cream!!!, you can my money!!' *greedily trying hard to fit in as much topping as i could.

Nom.. nom... nommmm....

The 3 happy souls

Heading back to hotel with a happy full tummies, meeting the 2 buddy as we arrived in different day. but their room was not ready for check in, again went out for lunch nearby our hotel.
now i have to agree with Levi's statement 'you'll will never feel hungry when you're in Bangkok', coz we basically just spending most of our time pigging out.
technically, giving the stomach zero chance to feel hungry FML XD

Sorry guys, i'm losing track on the pricing for your reference. so here, i'm just gonna show you what we had.

Thai Coconut

Watermelon Juice

Seafood Fried Rice

Thai Chicken Green Curry

Thai Fried Kway Teow

Seafood Tom Yam

Aren't they looks tempting enough? well, i felt that the food was rather mediocre. nothing much to rave about, perhaps it's because we was still way too full from the foods we had in the market earlier.
but nonetheless, you guys can try it still. just a word of advice, maybe you can request for 'recommended menu' from the staff to avoid any disappointment tho.

Back to the hotel after meal, and yet the room is still not ready for the 2 lovebird to check in. so Gf and i decided to have a good dip and the rest of the lazy bums just lazed around the poolside.

Finally settled everything, all clean and dolled up to rock on the night. i can safely say 99% of the things we did was unplanned, from which place to visit, food to try, etc.
the only planned 'must go' was Sirroco & Route66 Night Club , been wanted to party like forever! and it's been years since we last gather on the dance floor.

But of course, dinner before party is never a bad idea. so, food feasting again! this time, we had our amazing dinner at 1 of the Italian restaurant near our hotel.
if you notice, we had couple of meals around our Hotel, some are not even pictured. it's quite centralize and easily accessible to many places, restaurant (Italian, Indian, Japanese, local Thai cuisine, etc), Bar, etc. thinking about concept shopping center Terminal 21? it just approximately 8 Min complementary Tuk2 ride from the hotel itself. and walking distance approximately 5 Min to Mille Malle

Basilico Pizzeria

Llongteoy, Bangkok 10110

Complementary Bread & Breadsticks

Caesar Salad ฿290

I wouldn't think twice to rate this classic appetizer as the most amazing caesar salad i've ever had in my life!!! from the parmesan dressing, crispy croutons, and crunchily fresh iceberg lettuce top with 2 thin slices of parmesan cheese. BEST EVER!!! (period)

Spaghetti Squid Ink Pasta ฿470

Levi's black beauty, it was delish too!!! doesn't looks very appealing like most squid ink food does, but trust me.. it's taste beyond its dirty look! hahaha.. there are ton's of fresh crunchy prawn & squid bites. yuminess level 10/10

Spaghetti Grilled King Prawn Pasta ฿480

Beau colorful goddess, it's tangy, refreshing and flavoursome.
anyway, if you guys are not a fan of creamy pasta, i recommend you go for tomato base instead. i know some people will get sick by the creaminess after a couple spoonful of  rich white sauce, tomato make a wise choice in replacement ;)

Fettuccine Black Truffle Pasta ฿450

Starring on the menu back and forth, i got myself confused over what to order. end up with this as 1 of the chef's recommended menu, which indeed SO RECOMMENDED!!
The combination of rich creaminess and black truffle + alˈdɛnte cook fettuccine pasta OMG.... i can still taste the goodness in my mouth!!! #madcraving
once again, i've never ever ever in a million years taste such an incredible pasta ever!! THIS IS DEFINITELY TO HAVE & TO LOVE!!

Spicy Chicken Pizza ฿350

The love bird settled for a plate of huge ass pizza, didn't get a chance to have a bite because i was drawn by my heavenly truffle pasta that nothing possible caught my attention aside from my own dish.

I read quite a number of 'disappointment' comments on Tripadvisor over the food serve in Basilico, now it got me wonder why? coz we had such a pleasant dining experience. quality Italian food, great service, good ambience. will i recommend Basilico a try, BIG YES!!! for sure! worth every penny

Next, we're off to put our hands up in the air..
put your hands up in the air.. (sing along) ;D

Just some random cocktails, you know age is catching up FML. getting ourself completely wasted might not be a good idea, especially when we need to prepare ourself for next day final activities and reunion event.

Good girls sips

Cheers!!

Dance the night away

Right, needless to elaborate more. it was a massive club (full stop). guess what?! you won't smells any strong smoky cigarette in any corner of the whole damn club *bet it's smoke free, not even in the rest room. my ideal type of club. BIGGEST THUMBS UP!!!
It consist of 3 different hall offers 3 different type of music entertainment from different genre

The Novel (Live music performances)
The Level (Remix RnB club hits)
The Classic (old school disco)

Change all your cash on the entrance upon entering the club to purchase drinks at the counter, that's inhouse practice. hit up The Level for a great fun, it's the nature habitat for party animal ;)

Though this post it the shortest travelogue ever, but scrolling back to the top.. oh dear, i'm over loaded! for the upcoming blog entry, i'll just split em' partially for a better organizing and 'eye friendly' reading.  Guess that is all for day 1 people, gonna draft my day 2 in a bit. meanwhile for the latest update you can always follow me on My Instagram and make sure to check back soon.
